Up 18.5% in Vietnam shrimp exports
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As of July 2017, Vietnam’s shrimp exports amounted to US$1.9 billion, up 18.5% over the same period last year. Shipments to top 8 leading markets witnessed the good growth, except for the U.S (-5.5%).
In the period, exports of whiteleg shrimp remained the large share of 63.2% of Vietnam’s total shrimp exports; while those of black tiger shrimp took up the proportion of 25.6% and those of marine shrimp were 11.2%. In particular, the export proportion of whiteleg shrimp and marine shrimp increased while that of black tiger shrimp decreased compared with the same period in 2016.
Vietnam shrimp sales to EU climbed up 30%
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Shrimp imports into the EU accounts for about 30.6% of total worldwide imports, ranging from US$6-8 billion per year. In the past 10 years (2007-2016), shrimp imports into the bloc increased from US$5.6 billion to US$6.7 billion in 2016. The export value bottomed out at US$5.4 billion in 2009 and reached a peak US$7,6 billion in 2014.
Shrimp export up nearly 16 pct in first half
Vietnam earned 1.56 billion USD from shrimp exports in the first half of this year, up 15.7 percent annually, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
Conference promotes Vietnam-Singapore trade partnership
Up to 110 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of Vietnam attended a conference in Singapore on March 10 to seek trade and investment partnership.
The businesses’ participation benefited from an initiative jointly made by the Vietnam-Singapore Friendship Association, the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore and the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Club under the Vietnamese Association of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises.
Vietnam pangasius exports to hit US$1.66 billion in 2016
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2016, Vietnam’s pangasius exports estimated to touch US$1.66 billion, rising 7% from the previous year and accounting for 24% of total seafood export turnover.
In 2016, Vietnam’s pangasius was destined to 137 markets around the world, including the US (with the largest share of 23%), China (17%) and the EU (slipped to the 3rd rank with the share of 16%).
Ca Mau to raise certified organic shrimp farming area to 20,000 ha by 2020
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province expected to raise certified organic shrimp farming area to 20,000 ha by 2020.
Currently, the province has about 14,000 hectares of mixed shrimp-forest farming with participation of 2,500 households in the two districts of Ngoc Hien and Nam Can and shrimp products in these districts were internationally certified organic. This is also the opportunity to promote the brand name of Ca Mau’s shrimp on the world market.
EUR2.5 million project launched to support shrimp value chain development in Mekong Delta
Oxfam and the International Collaborating Centre for Aquaculture and Fisheries Sustainability (ICAFIS) on May 24 launched a project to support sustainable and equitable shrimp production and value chain development in the Mekong Delta region.

EU raises importing warmwater shrimp
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam shrimp exports to EU in Jan 2016 continued the downward trend of 2015. Exports in the next months of Feb and Apr started to post the year-on-year growth. Vietnam shrimp sales to EU in Jan-Apr 2016 reached US$164.4 million, up 12.1% year on year. In the early 2016, orders from European importers rose thanks to lower inventories and stable demand.
Up 57% in Vietnam pangasius exports to Brazil
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As of the first half of May 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to Brazil reached US$29.12 million, up 189% compared to the same period last year.
